Home UAE Dubai American man dies on Emirates flight from Dubai, will be tested for Covid-19 The man’s family has reportedly told the authorities that he did not have any pre-existing medical conditions by Varun Godinho March 16, 2020 A 59-year-old man from Worcester died onboard a Dubai-Boston flight on March 14, according to a statement issued by the Massachusetts State Police. The statement added that the man suffered a cardiac arrest while onboard the Boeing 777 flight EK237. Read: American woman on Emirates flight dies after landing in Dubai The man had reportedly been sick with gastrointestinal problems for a few days prior, although the man’s family is believed to have told the authorities that he did not have any pre-existing medical conditions. He travelled from Boston to Chennai on March 4 and was on his way back to Boston after a layover in Dubai on March 13. NBC has reported that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will as a precautionary measure, given the deceased man’s recent travel history, test for the Covid-19 coronavirus. Rescue services were summoned to the gate of the aircraft after it landed at the Boston Logan International Airport. Emirates added in a statement: “Emirates can confirm that on 14 March, a passenger collapsed on board flight EK237 from Dubai to Boston. After consulting doctors via Emirates’ Medlink system, our cabin crew administered CPR to the passenger. However the passenger was unresponsive and sadly, passed away. Emirates expresses condolences to the family.” Emirates has implemented thermal screening measures for all USA flights departing Dubai.
