Home World North America Apple Drops YouTube App In New Software Next generation iPhones and iPads will no longer have Google’s YouTube app pre-installed in the software. by Aarti Nagraj August 8, 2012 Apple will not include Google’s YouTube app in its new operating system for the next generation of iPhones and iPads, the tech giant company has said. “Our licence to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended,” Apple said in a statement. However, the company added that customers can access the popular video website in the Safari browser and that “Google was working on a new YouTube app to be on the app store.” Google’s YouTube app had been a part of Apple’s operating system since the launch of the iPhone in 2007. However, Google and Apple, which were once close allies, are now becoming strong rivals in the smartphone sector, with Google’s Android operating system competing heavily with the iPhone. Earlier this year, Apple had announced that it would replace Google Maps on the upcoming iOS6 with its own mapping service. The new generation iOS6 software is expected to be released in the next few months, probably with a fresh version of the iPhone.
