The Ascott Limited (Ascott) has announced two new properties to open in the Moroccan city of Marrakech.

Ascott Hivernage Marrakech and The Unlimited Collection Hotel Marrakech are both slated to open by Q4 2026.

The two new hotels will together comprise 190 fully-furnished units.

Ascott Hivernage Marrakech will have 100 units, including studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. The property, located in the heart of Marrakech’s prestigious Hivernage district and in close proximity to the renowned 1,000-seat conference and convention centre, Palais des Congrès, will also have views of the city skyline overlooking the Atlas Mountains. It will have a gym, swimming pool, meeting and conference rooms, and a restaurant too. Guests staying at Ascott Hivernage Marrakech will have easy access to the city’s business district and leisure venues, including the Jamaa el Fna Square and the souks of the Medina.

The Unlimited Collection Hotel Marrakech meanwhile will feature 90 rooms and suites. Situated in the district of Gueliz, the hotel will have several amenities including a restaurant, meeting and conference rooms, a gym and a pool.

“We are excited to announce further expansion into North Africa – a territory bursting with possibilities and a hospitality sector that is fast becoming one of the most dynamic across the African continent. These new properties align seamlessly with our expansion target of 5,500 additional units in the MEAT region by 2025,” said Vincent Miccolis, managing director for Middle East, Africa, Türkiye and India at The Ascott Limited.

Ascott’s North Africa pipeline already includes the planned opening of two properties in Casablanca in Q1 2025 – Citadines Connect Belvedere Casablanca and Citadines Racine Casablanca – spanning 183 units.

Elsewhere in Africa, Ascott earlier this year entered into a partnership with real estate group, Salaam Properties, to launch its first property in Djibouti. Citadines City Centre Djibouti is set to open in 2024 will comprise 83 units including studios, as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Globally, Ascott said that it plans to open 70 properties across Asia Pacific and Europe in 2023. The group opened 45 properties in 2022 but hopes to open its “highest-ever property openings” this year with close to 13,500 units.
