Home GCC Bahrain Bahrain to provide free Covid-19 vaccinations to all residents and citizens All those over the age of 18 will receive the vaccine, with plans in place to initially vaccinate five thousand individuals per day by Varun Godinho December 13, 2020 Bahrain’s Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has said that “a safe vaccine” will be provided free of charge to all citizens and residents within the kingdom. He made the remarks during a meeting of the Government Executive committee on Thursday, reported the official Bahrain News Agency. In line with the directives of the King, plans are being put into place to provide the Covid-19 vaccine across 27 medical centres. All those over the age of 18 will receive the vaccine, and the country aims to vaccinate five thousand individuals per day. It also intends to expand that programme to eventually reach ten thousand vaccinations per day. A report submitted by the National Medical Task Force to Combat the Coronavirus (Covid-19), headed by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, on the Kingdom’s national vaccination programme was reviewed during the meeting. The task force added that it is committed to providing a vaccine “which is approved by the World Health Organization and the National Health Regulatory Authority.” Last month, Bahrain approved the G42-Sinopharm vaccine, for use among frontline workers.
