The deal is the third conducted by Investcorp’s Technology Partners European fund in the last nine months and comes after the recently announced acquisition of a majority stake in online marketplace Ageras. The firm was acquired in a GBP10m ($13.2m) management buy-out by Connection Capital in 2014. It has revenues of roughly $10m and a 20 per cent share of the UK secondary school market, serving more than 1,400 institutions in the country and 1.5 million devices globally. Investcorp said it would support Impero through organic growth and “add-on” acquisitions to expand its customer base to new geographies. “The mission critical nature of Impero’s product offering, its strong reputation with customers and its attractive growth prospects in the UK and abroad represent a very attractive investment opportunity for Investcorp Technology Partners,” said Investcorp co-CEO Mohammed Al-Shroogi.
