Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history, has passed away. She was 96.
According to the Royal Family, the Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the Royal Family tweeted.
Prince Charles has succeeded the Queen as the King of Britain.
A respected figure across the globe, Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952.
In June this year, Queen Elizabeth II celebrating her Platinum Jubilee as a British Monarch, marking 70 years of service to the people of the UK, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

She is survived by four children.
