Business Jet Numbers Double At Dubai World Central

DC Aviation Al-Futtaim (DCAF), a joint venture between German business jet operator DC Aviation and Dubai’s Al-Futtaim, saw over a 100 per cent increase in private and business jets in April from its base at Dubai World Central (DWC) due to the planned runway closure of Dubai international airport.

“We are seeing an increasing number of private and business jet operators move their operations to DWC even before the planned closure of Dubai International. The increasing numbers confirms our decision to be the first integrated business aviation operation to be based at Al Maktoum International Airport,” said  Holger Ostheimer, General Manager, DC Aviation Al-Futtaim.

Ostheimer expects to see asset owners permanently shift their operations to Dubai’s second airport even after the runway refurbishment as owners realise the convenience the site offers in terms of easy access via the Dubai bypass, lesser operational restrictions and timely operations.

“By having no traffic restrictions and allowing the VVIP passenger to fly when needed and to being able to access the aircraft which is literally parked only a few steps away from the passenger lounge our facility offers all the convenience and comforts expected of a premium facility,” he said.

To accomodate the expected increase in activity at DWC, DCAF is expanding its line maintenance capabilities to include the Challenger 604/605 series aircraft. It also supports the Airbus 320 series, the Bombardier Global Express type of aircraft in addition to others.

DCAF is looking to provide hangar-based aircraft interior and exterior washing and is in the process of establishing its aircraft cabin interior cleaning and grooming services.

The hangar measures at 5,700 square metres and has enough space to accommodate two ultra-long range business jets such as the Falcon 7X, Bombardier Global Express, or Gulfstream G550 and four ACJ or BBJ type aircrafts of the heavy business jet category.

The company also offers a lounge area for local, regional and international customers and plans a dedicated parking area designed to reduce the time between drop off and boarding.
