Coronavirus: No home parties allowed in Dubai this month

The move is a precautionary measure to prevent the transmission of the Covid-19 coronavirus

The Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disasters Management has ordered residents of Dubai to avoid holding parties or weddings within their home with immediate effect until the end of March as a means to contain the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The decision was communicated via a Dubai Media Office tweet read: “As part of the precautionary measures aimed at achieving the highest levels of health and safety for the community, the Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Tool in Dubai directed everyone to avoid holding parties and weddings in homes immediately from Monday, March 16 until the end of this month.”

On Monday, Dubai also ordered all bars, pubs and lounges (including bars within restaurants) to close for the rest of the month.

Dubai had already ordered all nightclubs, cinemas, theme parks, public parks, entertainment destinations, spas, massage parlours and gyms to close until the end of this month.

It has also suspended all schools, universities and nurseries across the country for four weeks starting from March 8 during which a disinfection drive is being undertaken across all educational facilities.

The UAE announced 12 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the total number of cases recorded in the country to 98.

Meanwhile, a total of 26 individuals have recovered, officials have announced.
