Home UAE Abu Dhabi Covid-19: Abu Dhabi issues new restrictions for tourism, commercial and economic activities All parties and gatherings are now banned indefinitely by Varun Godinho February 7, 2021 Abu Dhabi announced new Covid-19 precautionary measures on Sunday across tourism, commercial and economic activities conducted within the emirate. Among the new directives issued by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee, all parties and gatherings are now banned. The operating capacity of shopping malls have been capped at 40 per cent; taxis to 45 per cent; gyms, private beaches and swimming pools to 50 per cent; restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, public beaches and parks to 60 per cent and buses to 75 per cent. Read: Covid-19: Cinemas ordered to close in Abu Dhabi The number of guests at wedding ceremonies is restricted to 10, while 20 people will be allowed to gather for funerals and mourning services. The committee further recommended intensifying inspection and monitoring of all sectors to ensure compliance with precautionary measures, and reporting violators to the Attorney-General. Abu Dhabi’s decision to tighten the precautionary measures came on the same day that the UAE reported 3,093 additional Covid-19 cases, in the wake of 192,241 tests conducted across the country to screen for the virus. On Saturday, officials confirmed that workplace attendance at Abu Dhabi government and semi-government entities has been reduced to 30 per cent, as a safety measure to help protect the health of employees and their families.
