Covid-19 in the GCC: Saudi reports third death; Bahrain registers fourth

The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia took to Twitter to announce the country’s third Covid-19 fatality, confirmed as a resident of Madinah.

This marks the second death in the city of Madinah.

As many as 112 new cases have been registered in the kingdom, of which 12 are travel related while 100 cases are linked to contact with previously infected individuals.

Of the newly diagnosed cases, the highest were reported in Riyadh (34) and Makkah (26).

The total number of those infected in the kingdom now tallies 1,012.

Bahrain
On March 25, the Ministry of Health announced the death of a 78-year-old national, who was an active Covid-19 case and was suffering from underlying health problems.

The deceased male had contracted the virus after being in contact with another infectee.

Of the 249 active cases, all but one remain stable, the ministry asserted.

Oman
A total of 10 new Covid-19 cases were registered in the sultanate, Times of Oman reported on March 26.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 109 individuals have been infected thus far, of whom 23 have recovered.

“Five cases are linked with having close contact with confirmed cases of coronavirus, and two cases are related to travel to Britain, while three cases are under epidemiological investigation,” a statement by the ministry read.
