The UAE recorded its highest daily number of new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, with 1,723 infections detected in the past 24 hours.
The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that the new cases were found after it conducted 150,244 additional Covid-19 tests.
The total number of recorded cases in the UAE has now reached 206,092.
MoHAP also announced three deaths due to Covid-19 complications, with the death toll in the country now standing at 665.
An additional 1,607 individuals also fully recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 183,007.
On Tuesday, officials confirmed that a “limited number” of cases of the new strain of Covid-19 have been detected in the country.
The affected individuals came from abroad, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) said.

In a statement on Wednesday, MoHAP stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.
It urged the public to cooperate with health authorities and adhere to the precautionary measures.
