Covid-19: UAE reports less than 1,000 new cases for the first time in two months

The UAE reported 944 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, with the daily infection number dropping below 1,000 for the first time in two months.

The last time the country recorded less than 1,000 new cases was on October 19, when 915 infections were reported.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that the new cases were detected after it conducted 152,146 additional Covid-19 tests over the past 24 hours.

The total number of recorded cases in the UAE has now reached 201,836.

According to the ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MoHAP also announced two deaths due to Covid-19 complications, bringing the death toll to 657.

It also reported that 1,265 individuals had fully recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 178,672.

In a statement, the ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases.

It also called on the public to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the precautionary measures and social distancing to ensure the health and safety of all.
