Home Covid-19 Drive-through Covid-19 vaccination centre opens in Abu Dhabi The centre can accommodate up to 700 people per day and can vaccinate around 60 people per hour by Varun Godinho February 16, 2021 A new drive-through Covid-19 vaccination centre has opened in Abu Dhabi’s Burjeel Medical City located in Mohammed bin Zayed City. It takes a maximum of 20 minutes to complete the entire vaccination process at the centre. This includes a check-up of vital signs and filling out an approval form, all done without the vaccine candidates having to exit their cars. The centre can accommodate up to 700 people per day and can vaccinate around 60 people per hour. The new centre will offer Covid-19 vaccines to all eligible categories of individuals, especially the elderly and those with chronic diseases. All UAE citizens and residents 16 years and above are eligible to receive the vaccine. The VPS Healthcare Group, which manages the Burjeel Medical City, has 19 Covid-19 vaccinations centres and four vaccinations tents located across Abu Dhabi. “The cooperation from different members of the community who chose to vaccinate to protect themselves and the community and contribute to putting an end to this pandemic has played a major role in safeguarding the health of our society,” said ~Al Abdulla bin Mohamed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, who visited the centre on Monday. Read: Drive-through Covid-19 vaccine centres to be introduced across the UAE The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention said on Monday, that 31,604 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered over the previous 24 hours. The total number of doses provided therefore stands at 5,086,835, with a vaccine distribution rate of 51.43 doses per 100 people. The UAE has approved several vaccines for use including Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Oxford-AstraZeneca.
