Dubai Airshow: Defence, maintenance deals worth Dhs6.9bn signed on day two

Tawazun Council, the UAE government entity, that works with the Ministry of Defense and security agencies, said that 11 deals, worth Dhs6.9bn, were signed by local and international companies on day two of the Dubai Airshow 2023.

Twenty deals were inked over the first two days of the show, Tawazun Council’s official spokespersons, Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi and Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi said during a press briefing at the Dubai Airshow, placing the value at Dhs11.6bn.

According to the state news agency, WAM, eight contracts were signed by Tawazun Council, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, with local companies, on November 14. The deals were valued at Dhs4.9bn.

Dubai Airshow: Highlights of the deals signed

• The biggest contract was awarded to Black Diamond to procure an air defence system. The deal is valued at Dhs3.3bn.
• The second largest local contract for aircraft maintenance services was signed by Advanced Integrated Systems. This was worth Dhs738m.
• An agreement worth Dhs588m was signed with Edge’s Earth Company for the purchase of ammunition.
• Deals with local companies included a contract worth Dhs177m with Trust International Group to purchase UAV systems, and a Dhs77.5m contract with Global Air Navigation Services for aircraft braking systems.
• A Dhs29m contract was inked with Al Taif, an EDGE company, to provide technical support for cooling devices and power generators for systems.
• A contract valued at Dhs8m was signed with Emirates Aviation Supply Center for providing technical support for systems, radars, command, control and communications.
• A deal was signed with ADB Safegate Gulf company at a total value of Dhs2.7m to purchase a monitoring and control panel for the aircraft system.
• Three international contracts valued at Dhs2bn were also signed.
• There was a Dhs1.4bn contract with the US company Raytheon to purchase ammunition and a Dhs210m contract with the Italy-baed Leonardo for aircraft maintenance services.
• A deal was signed with Chinese company CATIC to procure ammunition at a total value of Dhs438m.
