Home Covid-19 Dubai closes café; fines 9 businesses and warns 6 for violating Covid-19 measures As many as 668 shops and commercial establishments were found to have complied with the precautionary measures by Zainab Mansoor September 22, 2020 Dubai Economy, in co-operation with the Dubai Tourism, shut down a café in Al Seef on September 20, for non-compliance to Covid-19 precautionary measures. Inspectors from the Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in Dubai Economy also imposed fines on nine businesses for not adhering to physical distancing and employees’ lack of commitment to wearing masks. Six establishments were warned for not placing the physical distancing stickers as required, official news agency WAM reported. Overall, inspections on September 20 found that 668 shops and commercial establishments were fully complied with the precautionary guidelines. However, those fined include a restaurant in Umm Hurair, retail outlets in various shopping centres, and a sewing and embroidery shop in Abu Hail. A gym in Al Safa 1 was also penalised in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council. As many as 12 commercial establishments, including retail outlets in various shopping centres, sewing and embroidery shops, and fitness centres were slapped with fines as a consequence of field visits carried out on September 15. It also requested consumers to report any non-compliance via the Dubai Consumer app, by calling 600545555, or on the consumerrights.ae website.
