Home Covid-19 Dubai Economy fines 18 entities, warns 12 others for non-compliance with Covid-19 protocols The businesses which were issued fines were spread across several shopping centres, as well as Dubai International City, Al-Daghaya, and Ayal Nasir by Varun Godinho September 29, 2020 The field inspection teams from the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection Sector within the Dubai Economy conducted 755 site visits across the emirate on Sunday, September 27, to review compliance with precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19. By way of these inspections, Dubai Economy fined 18 commercial establishments, six of them from the retail sector, two of which were readymade garments traders, four were involved in the textiles and fabrics business, and one each from the perfumes, mobile phones, electronics, and computers trade, reported news agency WAM. Besides these entities, Dubai Economy in coordination with the Dubai Sports Council also fined two gyms. It provided a breakdown of the violations it observed at these facilities. At 16 commercial establishments, it was observed that employees were not wearing masks, and at two others the required physical distancing measures were not be observed. Apart from the fines, warnings were also issued to 12 commercial establishments for not placing the physical distancing stickers as prescribed by the authorities. The inspectors also added that of the 755 inspections carried out on Sunday, 725 commercial establishments were found to be fully complaint with the precautionary measures. Dubai Economy said that compliance is critical to the gradual return of normal commercial activity and warned that action will be taken against those found flouting the rules, whether this is observed by its own inspectors or reported to it by consumers and the public.
