Dubai government employees to get an average salary hike of 10%

Dubai government employees will receive an average salary increase of 10 per cent, under a new scheme that has been launched in the emirate.

Launched by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the new scheme is effective from January 1, 2020.

It aims to develop the government’s work system and invest in human capital to boost innovation and productivity, a statement said.

Under the new scheme, professional employees will receive a salary increase ranging from 9 per cent to 16 per cent.

Provisions have also been made for flexible working hours, telework and part-time employment to promote a good work-life balance.

The scheme also specifies a minimum wage for fresh Emirati graduates and outlines risk allowance, air ticket allowance, medical insurance, and end of service benefits.

“Fair opportunities” have been outlined for promotion, the statement added.

Sheikh Hamdan said: “Developing the government’s human resources and the happiness and stability of employees is a top priority.

“We are significantly focused on developing people and are committed to the principles of fairness and equal opportunities. We are also keen to provide vocational education and training opportunities and career and technical education to all government employees.”

Sheikh Hamdan also approved the formation of a career-grade placement committee, which will chaired by Abdulla Al Falasi, director general of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department.

The committee will approve the career-grade placement lists based on the grades and salaries defined in the new scheme.

Al Falasi said his department will explain details about the scheme to all Dubai government departments.

“The Dubai Government Human Resources Department will form a technical team to work and coordinate with all government entities to ensure the safe and proper implementation of the plans. We will also list all technical and legal remarks related to grades, salaries, increments, allowances and benefits and ensure complete compliance with the law,” he said.
