Dubai Holding appoints new CEO of Arab Media Group

Mohamed Sharaf has been appointed to oversee Global Village and Arabian Radio Network

Dubai Holding has announced the appointment of Mohamed Sharaf as CEO of its key media businesses.

Sharaf will oversee Arab Media Group, which includes entertainment park Global Village, Arabian Radio network and events management company Done Events.

He joins Dubai Holding, where he started his career, from his current position leading the investment team at Dubai government developer Meraas.

“At Dubai Holding, Emiratisation is a central component of our human capital strategy, and we are proud of the role we play in nurturing our national talent to enable them to take on leadership roles across the group,” said Dubai Holding chairman Abdullah Al Habbai.

“The commitment and dedication of our Emirati employees has always been a key driver behind our past successes, and they have been instrumental in ensuring that Dubai Holding continues to be a main contributor to Dubai’s economic growth and diversification.”

Earlier this year, Dubai holding appointed Bader Anwahi, UAE national to be chief executive officer of Global Village, one of the Arab Media group’s ventures.

Dubai Holding manages government assets worth Dhs130bn ($35.39bn) across tourism, hospitality, real estate, media, ICT, education, design and trade.

The company said the latest appointment meant five of its seven group companies were led by Emiratis

Earlier this year, Dubai holding appointed UAE national Bader Anwahi as chief executive officer of Global Village.

The firm has made a number of other new hires over the last 18 months following the appointment of Al Habbai as chairman in March 2017.
