Dubai is one of the world’s “safest cities” and is monitored by more than 300,000 cameras around the clock, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai stated on Wednesday.
Taking to Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed, who was at the Dubai Police headquarters, said that he was briefed on artificial intelligence security patrols in Dubai that function “without human intervention”.
The Oyoon project, an artificial intelligence (AI) programme, is aimed at raising Dubai’s profile as one of the world’s safest cities.
He also unveiled the Drone Box, an unmanned aerial system designed to help Dubai Police improve its operational effectiveness and reduce emergency response rates.
The initiative will reduce the response time for criminal offences and traffic accidents from 4.4 minutes to only one minute, he stated.
The service is anticipated to be launched during the upcoming Expo 2020 in Dubai, which will begin on October 1.
The six-month long expo is expected to attract 25 million visits in total, with a host of exhibitions, conferences, events and activations planned to take place on a daily basis.
