Dubai Municipality on Wednesday announced the launch of a naval rescued drone to patrol the emirate’s public beaches.

The ‘flying saviour’ is described as a world first in terms of both its design and usage.

It features an “integrated system for public outreach”, according to Dubai Media Office.

Dubai government authorities are using drone services to improve the emirate’s innovation credentials.

In May, the Roads and Transport Authority announced a memorandum to develop a self-driving aerial vehicle network as it continues to experiment with drone taxis.

Test flights of a vehicle made by German drone firm Volocopter took place in September.
