Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Police and Emaar have announced a comprehensive plan to manage traffic during New Year’s Eve celebrations in the emirate.

The fireworks signalling the start of 2019 at the Burj Khalifa are expected to draw over two million people, according to authorities.

For security, Dubai Police will have 4,000 officers and 2,000 patrol teams working across the emirate.

Up to 12,000 surveillance cameras will also monitor the Burj Khalifa, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard and surrounding residential areas.

Several first aid tents have also been set up around the area as well tents with lost and found items. Ambulances will also be deployed throughout the area.

Certain roads around the area will also be closed to traffic and the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station will be closed from 10pm to 6am on January 1.

The RTA has confirmed that 3,000 parking spaces have been allocated around the Downtown Dubai area to allow for easy viewing of the fireworks at Burj Khalifa.

“For a more convenient trip on New Year’s Eve 2019, please be cautious around pedestrian areas and plan to start your trip as early as possible before road closures to avoid overcrowding,” the RTA said on Twitter.

It also released some videos with more information about the traffic management plan.
