The group were described as being of different nationalities from Dubai’s correctional and punitive establishments. “The Attorney-General of Dubai Essam Issa Al Humaidan said His Highness’s gesture to pardon inmates aims to offer them a fresh start in life, ease their families’ suffering, and help them reintegrate into the community,” according to state news agency WAM. Dubai’s Public Prosecution has begun coordinating with Dubai Police to implement the order. Rulers across the Gulf region typically release prisoners ahead of Islamic occasions like the holy month of Ramadan and Eid. Yesterday, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan pardoned 704 prisoners and settled their financial obligations.
