Home Industry Construction Dubai’s Drake and Scull wins Dhs 224m deal for hotel, mall expansion The contractor did not specify the name of the mall or the hotel it is building by Mary Sophia October 20, 2015 Dubai-based contractor Drake and Scull International said that it won a contract worth Dhs 224m to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing works for a hotel and for the expansion of a mall in the emirate. The company, which has already commenced work on the hotel, will oversee the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of complete MEP works. The project is set to be handed over by 2018. DSI will also be developing the extension of a shopping mall in Dubai. The project will consist of a new high rise hotel tower and a low-rise podium that includes a hypermarket, cinemas and additional retail space, all within a total built up area of 192,000 sq.m. “The hotel complex and mall expansion is a welcome addition to iconic projects we are delivering in the UAE which includes the Habtoor City, the Jewel of the Creek and the Louvre Museum to name a few,” said Drake and Scull Engineering’s managing director Ahmad Al Naser. Drake and Sull has been previously involved in building Abu Dhabi’s Central Market and the expansion of Sharjah’s Sahara Mall. It is also involved in the development of retail projects across the Gulf Cooperation Council such as the Souk Al Kuwait, Souk Al Kabeer, Mall of Qatar and the Mall of the Emirates expansion. The company has also bagged a number of projects in the Middle East and North Africa region this year. These include the Dhs 180m Al Reef Tower, the Dhs 198m Jewel of the Creek, a Dhs 334m hotel complex, a Dhs 290m mixed use development, a series of projects in Oman worth Dhs 350m, an education institution in Kuwait for Dhs 218m, a residential development in Abu Dhabi and a retail project in Kuwait for a combined value of Dhs 96m.
