Home UAE Dubai Dubai tenants now required to attest Ejari for water and electricity activation From July 1, tenants will have to visit one of 800 approved real estate offices across the emirate for Ejari attestation by Staff Writer June 13, 2017 Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that tenants will need to attest their Ejari contract before receiving utility services from next month. Ejari, which is the emirate’s rental contract registration system, was in previous years not used by all Dubai tenants unless they needed to apply for residence visas for family members or were seeking potential dispute resolution through the Real Estate Regulatory Agency. Last year, DEWA said all residents would need to provide an Ejari certificate to receive its services and the new system will add a further step to activation. After attesting the certificate customers will receive a welcome message from DEWA via email and SMS with account and premise numbers and a link to pay the security deposit. Once this is paid the service will be activated.
