Dubai airline Emirates has announced that it will offer scheduled passenger flights from seven additional cities in July.

These include Khartoum (from July 3), Amman (from July 5), Osaka (from July 7), Narita (from July 8) and Athens, Larnaca and Rome from July 15.

The new routes will increase Emirates’ total number of destinations to 48, facilitating additional travel options through a connection in Dubai.

Tourists will also now be able to travel to Dubai following the announcement earlier this week that the city will be open for business and leisure visitors from July 7, with new air travel protocols for UAE citizens, residents and tourists.

Those looking to travel via the airline will have to meet travel and immigration entry requirements of their destination country.

Visitors to Dubai must have an international health insurance policy covering illness from Covid-19 for the duration of their stay.

Flight bookings can be made online at emirates.com or via travel agents.

Emirates has implemented several precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of passengers and employees on the ground and in the air, including the distribution of complimentary hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes.

Earlier this week, the airline said it plans to expand its network.

“We believe that cities around the world are conducting ongoing reviews and will soon follow suit to update their border entry requirements for international travellers,” Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates chairman and  CEO said on Monday.

“The next few weeks will be a big test for the whole aviation industry in many ways. At Emirates we see a positive trend of traffic building up across our network over the past weeks, and we are ready to serve our customers.”
