Home Transport Aviation Dubai’s Emirates to reintroduce A380 on Houston route The superjumbo was removed from the route after corporate travel demand waned by Staff Writer February 21, 2018 Dubai carrier Emirates will reintroduce the Airbus A380 for flights between Dubai and Houston due to returning demand, the carrier said on Wednesday. The airline had upgraded the route in December 2014 but made the decision to return to a Boeing 777-300ER service in July 2016 after corporate travel reduced following the collapse of the oil price. EK211 leaves Dubai at 9:35am and arrives in Houston at 4:50pm. Return flight EK212 leaves Houston at 8:00pm and arrives in Dubai at 8:00pm the next day. “With the energy sector recovering and playing a large role in Houston’s resurgence, Emirates took the decision to reinstate the A380 services from 1 June 2018 in line with commercial demand,” Emirates said. From March 25, Emirates will resume a daily service to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando and on June 1 it will begin direct flights to New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport as it prepares to halt a service to JFK. The airline is by far the largest operator of the A380 and recently committed to at least 20 more jets in a $16bn deal.
