Home Transport Aviation Dubai’s Emirates resumes flights to Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires The four-times weekly flights from Dubai to Rio de Janeiro with onward service to Buenos Aires will operate as EK247/EK248 by Zainab Mansoor November 4, 2022 Dubai-based carrier Emirates has resumed its flights to two South American destinations, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, previously suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Flight EK247, operated with a Boeing 777 aircraft, was well-received on its journey into Brazil and Argentina on Wednesday. Rio de Janeiro’s RIOgaleão organized a water cannon salute to mark the airline’s return to the Brazilian city. In Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza’s Ministro Pistarini International Airport, flight EK247 was met by Argentinian officials. Emirates has restored over 90 per cent of its pre-pandemic network, with the resumption of services to Argentina, comprising over 130 destinations including Dubai. The service to Argentina was first launched in 2012. The four-times weekly flights from Dubai to Rio de Janeiro with onwards service to Buenos Aires will operate as EK247/EK248. EK247 departs from Dubai four times a week at 8.05am lands in Rio de Janeiro at 3.25pm. Following an hour and 45 minute stopover, the flight continues to Argentina at 5.10pm, landing in Buenos Aires at 8.40pm. The return flight, EK248, takes off from Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires at 10.20pm and arrives in Rio de Janeiro at 1.10am the next day, afterwhich it departs again at 2.55am, flying to Dubai with a scheduled arrival time of 11.35pm. The carrier will also resume daily operations on its Taipei-Dubai route from November 6.
