Home Transport Aviation Dubai’s Emirates to resume flights to 5 more cities The carrier’s global network will grow to 99 destinations by Zainab Mansoor October 5, 2020 Dubai-based carrier Emirates will resume flights to five European cities from October and November, it announced on October 5. Flights to Budapest will resume from October 21, while milk runs to Bologna, Dusseldorf and Hamburg will commence from November 1 and to Lyon from November 4. The addition takes Emirates’ global network to 99 cities, and its European destination count to 31, as the airline continues to gradually reconstruct its network. Flights to/from Budapest and Lyon will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays while flights to/from Bologna, Dusseldorf and Hamburg will operate twice a week on Fridays and Sundays. Tickets can be booked on the carrier’s website and mobile app, its sales offices and travel agents. Emirates allows customers to claim medical expenses on flights undertaken until December 31, 2020, and is valid for 31 days from the moment they fly the first sector of their journey. Emirates has implemented a set of measures to ensure the safety of its customers and employees on the ground and in the air, including the distribution of complimentary hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes to all customers. Emirates customers who require a Covid-19 PCR test certificate can avail of special rates at the American Hospital and their satellite clinics across Dubai by presenting their ticket or boarding pass. Passengers can change their travel dates, extend their ticket validity for two years, or convert their ticket into a travel voucher to use against any future flight-related purchase for themselves or their family and friends. The airline’s COO Adel al Redha, lended hope in August, when he asserted that Emirates aims to serve 100 per cent of its network destinations, tantamount to 143 cities, by summer 2021.
