Dubai’s ENOC to open 22 new service stations across the UAE in 2020

Dubai-based ENOC plans to open 22 new service stations across the UAE by the end of 2020, it announced on Wednesday.

The group plans to open 10 service stations in Sharjah, nine in Dubai and three in the northern emirates.

The move will increase ENOC’s retail network from its existing 136 service stations to 193 across the UAE by end of 2021.

Saif Humaid Al Falasi, CEO, ENOC Group, said: “We will continue to expand our retail footprint, offering our customers ease of access to fuel and automotive services. Our expansion efforts are aligned with the UAE government to establish a robust infrastructure required to serve the UAE over the for the next 50 years.”

In 2019, ENOC launched 10 service stations across the UAE, including its first centres in the northern emirates with three in Sharjah and one each in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

All new ENOC service stations come with photo-voltaic (PV) solar panels, installed on the canopy, to generate up to 120KW/hr of energy, which is about 30 per cent more than the average energy required to run a station.

The excess power generated from solar energy is transmitted back to the main grid of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) with a solar meter installed to monitor the power to be sent to the grid.

The new stations also have features such as the vapour recovery system (VRS) to prevent emissions, LED lights to reduce energy consumption by 50 per cent, and an improved AC system that saves 35 per cent of energy.

Last year, ENOC also announced plans to boost its services in Saudi Arabia to meet the growing fuel station demand in the kingdom.

The group’s retail arm will increase its service station network by more than eight fold by 2030 to reach 124 stations, it said.

The new service stations will be located in different areas across the kingdom covering the east, west and central regions.
