Dubai’s health authority shuts down private hospital for ‘violating medical practices’

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has closed down a private hospital for three months for not complying with medical standards and regulations, it announced on Saturday.

The name of the hospital was not revealed.

The DHA said the hospital was closed after a series of inspections and field visits found that it had ‘repeatedly violated practices that harm public health’.

The authority said that hospital violated a law related to private health facilities, which stipulates that centres must comply with all health, environmental and safety conditions.

The decision included closing all departments of the hospital, including operating rooms for three months, a statement said.

Outpatient clinics will remain open and while the hospital will not be allowed to accept new patients, it will be allowed to continue the treatment of existing patients.

After the three months of closure, the hospital will be re-evaluated to make sure that all the recommendations noted in the investigation report were met and that the facility complies with the required regulatory health policies.

The DHA said it will not “tolerate any legal violations and will take actions against those do not work within the framework of responsible medical practice”.
