Decreasing transport costs were the main factor driving the decrease, according to Dubai Statistics Centre. In the government body’s Consumer Price Index for January, transport cost inflation fell 2.66 per cent. Meanwhile, housing and utility costs, which account for almost 43.7 per cent of consumer expenses, fell 0.46 percent. Clothing and footwear prices dropped by 4.13 per cent and food and beverage prices, accounting for 11 per cent of the basket, climbed 3.14 per cent.
