Dubai’s Nakheel opens revamped Jebel Ali Club

Dubai developer Nakheel has revamped its leisure outlet Jebel Ali Club with new dining and entertainment venues.

Located very close to the original Jebel Ali Club, the new outlet forms part of a 500,000 square foot dining destination at the Jebel Ali Village community.

The club, which opened 40 years ago, is now split into two sections: one that retains its some of its original furniture, fixtures and fittings, and a second offering family-friendly dining and entertainment.

Together, they span 13,000 sq ft and accommodate 350 diners.

Thorsten Ries, managing director, Nakheel Hospitality, said: “Jebel Ali Recreation Club is a Dubai institution and a second home to many people, some of whom have been regular guests since it opened in 1977.

“We were determined to retain its original look and feel while at the same time broadening its appeal to a wider audience.”

Nakheel also confirmed that more restaurants and a dine-in cinema complex will open soon at its new Jebel Ali leisure hub.

Other venues coming include a four-screen dine-in movie complex from Reel Cinemas; Seafood Kitchen, a new concept from Nakheel Hospitality; C House Milano, an Italian restaurant; and Andalucia, serving Spanish tapas.

All of the restaurants have indoor and outdoor dining space, with a 55,000 sq ft landscaped terrace with water features and entertainment area.

The complex, which can accommodate up to 1,500 diners in total, also has onsite parking.

Nakheel is currently focussed on developing its retail, leasing, hospitality and asset management services, with annual revenues from these segments growing from Dhs800m in 2010 to an estimated Dhs2.5bn in 2017.

Its hospitality project portfolio includes 18 hotels and serviced apartment developments with more than 5,800 rooms between them located in Palm Jumeirah, Deira Islands, Ibn Battuta Mall, Jumeirah Village and Dragon City.

Nakheel’s current and future retail project portfolio covers nearly 17 million square feet of leasable space. Major developments include Ibn Battuta Mall, Dragon Mart 1 and 2, Golden Mile Galleria, Nakheel Mall, The Pointe, Deira Mall, Deira Islands Night Souk, Warsan Souk, Al Khail Avenue, The Circle Mall and Nad Al Sheba Mall.
