The tech startup speaks to Gulf Business about its technology-driven, eco-friendly mission, its market fit, and competitive advantage. Q. Tell us about Ecoflow’s presence in the region. EcoFlow is a leading eco-friendly energy solutions company with the vision to power a new world. Since its founding in 2017, EcoFlow has aimed at becoming a reliable and trusted energy companion for individuals and families across the world, providing accessible and renewable power solutions at home, outdoors, and in mobile spaces. In 2021, EcoFlow entered the Middle East region and we exhibited at the 2022 GITEX Global for the first time which marked our official debut. Since then, EcoFlow has expanded its footprints throughout the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Lebanon, through our Amazon and Noon stores as well as working with local distributors. The product portfolio includes solar panels, portable power stations, and smart devices. We recently unveiled three new products – the fast-charging and affordable RIVER 2 Pro, the ultra-powerful DELTA 2, and WAVE 2, the world’s first wireless portable AC with heater. Q. Why is the Middle East an important market for EcoFlow? The Middle East region holds strategic importance for us because of its market growth potential, abundant natural resources, and increasingly popular outdoor lifestyle. According to a report from Mordor Intelligence, the Middle-East battery energy storage system market is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 5.2 per cent during the forecast period 2020-2025. The rapid growth, according to the report, comes from the expansion into renewable energy infrastructure. Additionally, the region has ample natural and renewable energy sources with more than 300 hundred days of sunshine a year. This makes the Middle East a perfect place for individuals and families to invest in an eco-friendly and renewable-focused, mindful consumption cycle. In recent years, the Dubai government has promoted a healthier lifestyle through various initiatives which has led the resident population to embrace outdoor activities such as camping. We have also seen an increase in the glamping trend over the past few years, with service providers building camping sites in deserts, mountains, and beaches. Due to the UAE’s geographic terrain, more people are enjoying glamping in the country every year, especially during the autumn season. All of these factors combined make the UAE and other countries in the region a vital market for EcoFlow. Q. Can you tell us about the company’s focus on building green energy solutions. With the vision to power a new world, EcoFlow focuses on providing eco-friendly energy solutions for individuals and families across the world. Our product range focuses on: • Promoting alternative power sources: EcoFlow’s portable power stations, the DELTA series and RIVER series, provide perfect solutions for users’ needs of power in both outdoor and mobile spaces, whether they are looking for portability or more powerful devices that can power heavy-duty appliances. • Solar panels: Our portable solar panels boast a high 23 per cent energy conversion efficiency. By combining EcoFlow’s portable power stations and solar panels, an off-grid lifestyle using renewable energy becomes possible for everyday families and users. • Solar battery solutions: Our product range includes whole-home solar battery solutions, such as the PowerStream and PowerOcean DC Fit, which we launched earlier this year in Europe. These products are an embodiment of EcoFlow’s mission to help households achieve power autonomy, including power storage, daily power consumption, and even feed the grid. • Carbon footprint: Additional benefits of our product range includes helping households manage their energy consumption by building a smart home energy system. For example, the Smart Plug and EcoFlow App combo allows people to see and control how much energy each appliance uses. Through energy management, we are not only helping people take control over their energy consumption but also reducing the household carbon footprint.
