Eight injured after fire breaks out in residential building in the UAE

Eight people include three women and five children were injured after a fire broke out at a residential building in Ajman on Wednesday.

The victims, all residents in the five-storey building, suffered from smoke asphyxiation and were treated at the scene by the national ambulance, the Ajman civil defence said.

The fire broke out on the third floor of the building in the Al-Nuaimi area and all the residents were evacuated after civil defence teams rushed to the site, said Brig. Gen. Abdulaziz Ali al-Shamsi, director general of civil defence in Ajman.

He said authorities were inspecting the site to ascertain the causes of the fire.

Al-Shamsi also appealed to apartment owners to comply with the standards of protection and home safety in order to protect lives and property from the dangers of fire accidents.
