Home Transport Aviation Emirates Announces Additional Seychelles Flights Dubai’s flagship airline will begin two additional flights to the archipelago, taking its weekly number up to 13. by Neil Churchill September 24, 2012 Emirates will begin flying two additional weekly flights to Seychelles from the end of this year, the airline announced on Sunday. Dubai’s flagship carrier already flies 11 weekly flights to the popular holiday destination and will further expand its network with the island chain over the next few months – the 12th weekly flight will commence on December 3 and the 13th flight will begin operating in February. Ahmed Hashim Khoory, senior vice president for commercial operations at Emirates, West Asia and Indian Ocean, said: “As a partner of the Seychelles, we actively support the tourism industry of the archipelago. “The increase in frequencies will provide even more travel options and flexibility to visitors from across our network.” As well as the additional seats on the route, Emirates has said it will increase its promotional efforts for the holiday island across its network. Alain St Ange, Seychelles’ minister responsible for tourism and culture, said: “We welcome the confirmation by Emirates for its 13th weekly flight linking Seychelles to the world. “This is an added boost for our tourism industry because it helps to reconfirm that we are, more than ever before, but one stop from anywhere in the world.” Earlier this month Emirates announced it is to boost its Dubai-Singapore route with the introduction of a permanent Airbus A380 service from December 1 – the only airline to offer an A380 plane on the route. The carrier is launching the fixed service on the back of strong passenger demand in both directions, replacing the Boeing 777-300ER. The Airbus superjumbo seats 517 passengers in comparison to the 777’s 354 seats – a 46 per cent increase. The added seats afforded by the A380 increases Emirates’ total Singapore capacity to 1,659 seats a day, across four daily services. Last year Emirates increased its frequency of flights on the Singapore-Dubai route with seven additional weekly flights, bringing the total number out of Singapore to 28 – the most number of direct Singapore-Dubai flights offered by any airline.
