Emirates announces new repatriation flights to eight destinations from Dubai

Dubai airline Emirates has said that it plans to undertake passenger repatriation flights to eight new destinations.

These include Frankfurt (April 25, 27, 29), Jakarta (April 26), Johannesburg (April 25), Lagos (April 26), London Heathrow (April 23, 24, 26, 28, 30), Madrid (April 29), Manila (April 24, 28, 30), and Tunis (April 30).

Only citizens of the destination countries, and those who meet the entry requirements of the country they are travelling to will be allowed to board the flights.

Those who wish to travel to Johannesburg, Lagos and Tunis must contact the respective embassy or consulate for these countries in the UAE, the airline said in a statement.

It added that for all other flights, passengers can book directly on emirates.com (select the “one-way” option when booking), or via their travel agent.

Customers will be required to follow all health and safety measures required by the UAE authorities and their destination country.

Similar to other repatriation flights that Emirates has operated thus far, the airline will offer a modified inflight service that reduces contact and the risk of transmission of the disease.

Passengers are required to apply social distancing guidelines during their journey and must wear their own masks when at the airport and on board the aircraft.

Travellers should arrive at Dubai International airport Terminal 3 for check-in, three hours before departure.

The airline said that its check-in counters will only process passengers holding confirmed bookings to the above destinations.

On April 22, Emirates confirmed that it would resume regular operations “as soon as conditions allow”.

The airline is implementing strict measures on the routes that it is currently operating.

All cabin crew, boarding agents and ground staff, who come in direct contact with passengers, will now wear personal protective equipment (PPE), Emirates announced on Tuesday.
