According to reports, the man needed urgent medical attention because of ingesting cocaine. An Emirates spokesperson said: “Emirates flight EK262 from Sao Paulo to Dubai on May 27 was diverted to Lagos due to a passenger medical emergency. “Arrangements were made for the passenger to receive medical attention on arrival. Emirates apologises for the inconvenience. The health and safety of our crew and passengers is of paramount importance.” No further details were disclosed. An official from Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) confirmed that the man was immediately hospitalised. “A passenger complained of severe abdominal pains and later suffered three recurrent seizures thus necessitating an emergency landing in Lagos,” an NDLEA official said. “Upon arrival, four other passengers tested positive for narcotic ingestion.
