Emirates Launches Second A380 Daily Service To Zurich

Dubai-based Emirates has announced the launch of a second daily A380 service to Swiss capital Zurich.

The service, which will begin from October 1, 2015, will add 945 seats a week on the route with 280 seats in first and business class, the airline said in a statement.

Emirates first began operating the A380 jumbo jet to Zurich in January 2014 and has carried more than 345,000 passengers till date on this route.

“We anticipate that adding a second daily A380 to Zurich will not only enhance the travel experience of our passengers, but also stimulate trade and tourism between Switzerland, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, Commercial Operations West.

“The additional A380 service from Zurich makes it even easier for travellers to enjoy a seamless Emirates A380 experience to key destinations like Mauritius, Bangkok, Shanghai, Sydney or Hong Kong, with just one stop at our hub in Dubai.”

Emirates’ second daily service was previously operated by a Boeing 777-300 ER.

The Dubai airline operates an A380 to 35 different routes across the world. In 2014, Emirates launched an A380 service to destinations such as Mumbai, Frankfurt, Dallas, Kuwait, Houston, San Francisco and Milan.

Last month, the airline said that it will launch a second A380 service to Milan while planning to introduce the superjumbo on its New York-Milan route.

Emirates is the largest operator of A380s worldwide with about 50 superjumbo jets in its fleet. It also has another 89 A380 planes on order, as of November.

The Dubai carrier also has over 10,000 cabin crew and 900 flight deck crew specially trained to operate its growing A380 fleet.
