The partnership will offer Emirates’ passengers connectivity on domestic flights within Vietnam, as well flights connecting Vietnam to Singapore, Thailand and Australia. Under the agreement, Emirates’ flight number will be placed on Jetstar Pacific’s services to all codeshare destinations. The new codeshare services will connect Emirates passengers travelling to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to 14 Vietnamese cities. The cities that are covered by the new codeshare routes include: Ban Me Thuot, Phuquoc, Dalat, Quinhon, Tamky-Chulai, Hue, Pleiku, Nha Trang, Vinh City, Tuy Hoa, Dong Hoi, Thanh Hoa, Haiphong, and Da Nang, in addition to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Emirates will also operate codeshare flights with Ho Chi Minh City-based Jetstar Pacific to Singapore and Bangkok, both of which serve as connections for Emirates passengers continuing their travel to Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney, a statement said. Passengers can purchase connecting flights using one reservation, and those booking flights from the 16 destinations in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Osaka, Taipei, Singapore, Guangzhou and Bangkok will be able to connect in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi and fly with Emirates to other destinations worldwide. The airline confirmed that passengers will be able to earn and redeem miles on Emirates’ loyalty programme Skywards on the codeshare flights. “Jetstar Pacific‘s route network of 16 domestic destinations in Vietnam in addition to six international cities within Asia complements flights from Emirates’ European network into Vietnam and from Australia to Vietnam via Singapore and Bangkok,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president of Strategic Planning, Revenue Optimisation and Aeropolitical Affairs. “This further enhances our global network that spans more than 160 destinations worldwide.” Emirates first signed a codeshare partnership with the Jetstar Group in 2014. Part of Australia’s Qantas, the group includes low-cost carriers Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia (Singapore), Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Pacific (Vietnam). The Dubai airline currently operates codeshare flights to 23 sectors with Jetstar Airways and 12 sectors with Jetstar Asia.
