Emirates to restart flights from Dubai to the UK this month

Dubai-based carrier Emirates said on Monday that it would be accepting eligible travellers to the UK on flights from the UAE to London Heathrow starting June 8, and to Birmingham from June 15 onwards.

The airline added that travel restrictions remain in place, and advised its customers to check the latest UK entry requirements.

The UAE is currently on the UK’s red list for travel. Therefore, only British and Irish nationals, and those with residence rights, are permitted to travel to the UK from the UAE.

All passengers are required to quarantine for 10 days in a managed quarantine hotel in the UK upon arrival, take a Covid-19 PCR test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 of quarantining, and follow the national restrictions.

Those travelling from the UAE are required to pre-book a managed quarantine hotel within a 14-day period before arrival.

Emirates announcement of its resumption of services to the UK came on the same day that Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways too confirmed that it would resume passenger flights to London Heathrow starting June 8.

While travel restrictions are still in place for the UK, Emirates said earlier this week that nationals and residents of the UAE can travel to 19 countries without having to quarantine on arrival. From July, Emirates will reportedly operate over 280 weekly flights from Dubai to cities in Europe, the US, Middle East and Africa.
