ENOC opens five new service stations in Dubai

The stations are located in Hatta, Oud Al Muteena, City of Arabia and on the Dubai – Al Ain Road

Dubai-based Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) Group has opened five new service stations in the emirate, expanding its network to 122 stations in the UAE.

The company said it is on track to increase its fuel retail presence by 40 per cent by 2020.

The five newly built solar-powered service stations are located in Hatta, Oud Al Muteena, City of Arabia and two stations on Dubai – Al Ain Road, a statement said.

The new stations will include electrical vehicle charging stations operated by DEWA, and will have fully integrated digital wall displays on the forecourt columns and throughout the station.

Motorists can also access ZOOM convenience stores, Pronto, F&B offerings and AutoPro. Payment methods include ENOC’s cashless and credit card-less ViP system and mobile payment.

All the service stations have also been built in compliance with the new Dubai Municipality’s Green Build regulations, said ENOC.

Solar PV panels have been installed at the roof of the canopy at each service station, which can generate on average 120kWh of energy per day – approximately 30 per cent more than the average energy required to run a station.

Excess power generated from the solar PV panels will be transmitted to the main grid of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) with a solar metre designed to track the power injected into the power grid.

Last year, ENOC announced that all future service stations will be powered by solar energy to support the UAE’s long-term energy strategy to move towards clean energy sources.

The company estimates more than 23 GWh of solar energy will be generated to power the new stations by 2020. Currently, ENOC owns six solar power service stations.

Saif Humaid Al Falasi, group CEO, ENOC, said: “We successfully opened eight service stations this year, and as the official integrated energy partner for Expo 2020, we are on track with our plans to expand our service station network by 40 per cent by 2020, to accommodate the anticipated 25 million visitors for Expo 2020.”

Last week, ENOC also announced plans to resume operating petrol stations in Sharjah after seven years.

The return comes after ENOC closed its Sharjah stations for a month’s maintenance in June 2011 and subsequently failed to comply with government instructions to reopen.
