UAE national carrier Etihad Airways has decided to increase the number of exceptional international flights from Abu Dhabi throughout May to destinations including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Manila, Melbourne, Seoul’s Incheon airport, Singapore, Tokyo’s Narita airport, Zurich, and also additional flights to Dublin and New York’s JFK airport.

The airline said that these special flights are announced as it “prepares for an eventual return to scheduled flights, subject to the lifting of current travel restrictions.”

The UAE suspended all international flights last month to contain the spread of Covid-19, but has permitted repatriation flights to operate.

Travellers wishing to book these flights are advised to visit the carrier’s website and adhere to entry regulations at their destination country.

Flights can also be booked via the airline’s app, its contact centre (+971 600 555 666), or through a local or online travel agency.

Emiratis wishing to return home from any of the foreign destinations where Etihad is flying to should contact their local UAE embassy or consulate.

A statement from Etihad added that it continues to follow all the directives from local and international regulatory authorities, and has implemented an extensive sanitisation and customer wellbeing programme, to boost its already stringent procedures, and to ensure the highest standards of hygiene at every touch point of the guest journey, including social distancing in-flight.

As a result of the Covid-19 precautionary measures in place, the airline said that there will be a revised meal service.

On April 16, Etihad Airways said that it had extended the suspension of regular passenger flights to Saturday, May 16.
