The Abu Dhabi-based airline will fly daily to Tokyo’s Narita airport from April 2 and services will be operated by two-class A330-200s. Etihad had launched five flights a week to Tokyo in March 2010 with codeshare partner ANA. “Since launching, we have been proud to say that we were the first Middle Eastern carrier to operate to Tokyo, and as expected there has been a high volume of traffic on the route, particularly from business travellers,” said James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ president and CEO. In-flight services include a special Japanese menu, Japanese language in-flight entertainment content and cabin crew comprising Japanese nationals and Japanese speakers. Meanwhile the carrier also announced that it will provide daily flights to Casablanca from March 28. Etihad currently flies five times a week on the route. “The Moroccan capital has been a successful destination for us and retains strong volumes of business and leisure passengers throughout the year. We believe there are good prospects for further growth in the region,” said Hogan. The daily service will support connecting traffic between the GCC and Asian and Australian destinations and will also strengthen connectivity with codeshare partner, Royal Air Maroc, said Etihad.
