Home Industry Telecoms Etisalat Warns Customers To Register SIM Cards As Deadline Looms The fourth phase of the registration campaign ends on July 16. by Mary Sophia July 8, 2013 UAE telecoms operator Etisalat has warned customers to register their SIM cards before the July 16 deadline for the fourth phase of the My Number? My Identity? campaign. The campaign was launched by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) last year to protect subscribers from misuse or confidentiality infringement. Users who receive an SMS notification will need to register their SIM cards on time or risk having their lines discontinued or suspended, the telecoms provider said in a press statement. Customers are required to produce a valid identification document along with an identity proof to complete the registration process at Etisalat point of sale counters. Etisalat introduced online and third party registrations last month in order to expedite the registration process and increase the number of registrations. The telecoms service provider also announced extended working hours at their business centers during Ramadan. The announcements came after the third phase of the campaign ended with irate customers who were stuck in long queues at Etisalat kiosks across the country. However as the fourth phase comes to a close, Ayman Eldessouky, the chief sales officer at Etisalat said that customers are beginning to realise the importance of protecting their information and urged subscribers to ensure early registration of their SIM cards to enjoy uninterrupted service. TRA has given a timeframe of 18 months for all the mobile phone users in the country to complete registration of their SIM cards. The campaign has been divided into six stages to ensure successful completion of all the SIM card registration. 0 Comments
