Expo 2020 Dubai ticket prices announced; up for sale from July 18

Expo 2020 Dubai ticket prices were announced on Thursday, July 1, and will go on sale worldwide from July 18.

Three ticket tiers have been announced – tickets for a single visit to the exhibition will cost Dhs95 ($26), multi-day tickets offering unrestricted entry for 30 consecutive days will be priced at Dhs195 ($53), while visitors will have to pay Dhs495 ($135) for a six-month pass.

Expo 2020 tickets will include access to all pavilions, events and live performances. The event, the first to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, will run from October 1, 2021 until March 31, 2022, under the slogan “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”

Children under the age of 18 and students holding a valid student ID from any academic institution worldwide will be given free entry, offering younger visitors access to learning opportunities, a statement said.

Complimentary tickets will also be available for people of determination, with their companion receiving a 50 per cent discount, while visitors ages 60 years and above can also enter for free.

Tickets will go on sale online at expo2020dubai.com. They will also be available at more than 2,500 authorised ticket resellers, including online travel agents, tour operators, hotel groups and airlines from more than 100 markets worldwide.

Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “The scale and diversity of what Expo 2020 Dubai has to offer is remarkable, and a testament to the commitment, tenacity and collaborative spirit of each and every individual who has made this happen.

“Excitement is building, and we are ready to welcome everyone to an unmissable six-month celebration, the likes of which the world has yet to experience. No two days at Expo will be the same, and with so much on offer, every guest will be inspired to visit as many times as possible, to witness the collaborative power of innovation and collaboration and to join the making of a new world.”

Expo 2020 has implemented precautionary measures – such as sanitisation stations across the site, mandatory face-mask wearing and the implementation of social-distancing regulations – to ensure the safety of all visitors, participants and staff, in collaboration with the UAE health ministry and Dubai Health Authority.

Organisers at a media briefing on Thursday said that a maximum of 120,000 people per day will be allowed on site. However, they are aiming to attract a total of 25 million ‘physical’ visits to the event, inclusive of domestic and international visitors.

Domestic visits are expected to be higher, an official indicated.

While visitors will not be required to have received the Covid-19 vaccine for visiting the exhibition, organisers stressed that they would urge all attendees to inoculate themselves. In April, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai had also issued directives to make Covid-19 vaccinations available to official representatives of countries participating in Expo 2020.

Every participating nation will have its own pavilion. Countries will not be clustered by their geography, but under Expo 2020’s three sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.

Over 370 delegates of the Expo 2020 travelled to the UAE to attend the final International Participants Meeting (IPM) in May this year ahead of the event’s official opening in October.
