Home Industry Finance Female Emirati investors hold shares worth Dhs20bn, says Abu Dhabi’s ADX Up to 220,000 women hold 3.5 billion shares by Staff writer August 29, 2018 The total number of female Emirati investors reached 220,000 by the end of the first half of 2018, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) announced on Tuesday as part of Emirati Women’s Day. The women investors hold about 3.5 billion shares with a market value of about Dhs20bn ($5.4bn). The total trading value (buy and sell) undertaken by the Emirati women investors was around Dhs5bn during the year 2017 and about Dhs1.8bn during the first half of 2018, ADX said. Rashed Al Blooshi, CEO of the ADX, thanked and praised the Emirati women working in the exchange. Female UAE nationals hold more than 58 positions in various market departments in the exchange, accounting for 46 per cent of the total number of employees. Up to 31 per cent of the positions held by Emirati female employees are supervisory. “The UAE celebrates 28th August each year confirming the strong belief of the UAE’s leadership in the importance of the contributions of women and their role in the development efforts and the appreciation of the country,” said Al Blooshi. Emirati Women’s Day was launched by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the General Women’s Union in 2015 to recognise and honour the crucial role played by women in the country. The fourth Emirati Women’s Day was held this year under the theme, “Women on the Course of Zayed” and is line with UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declaring 2018 the “Year of Zayed”. 0 Comments
