Home UAE Dubai flydubai to begin flights to Kilimanjaro, up frequency to Zanzibar The relaunched service will mark flydubai’s third location in Tanzania by Staff Writer June 15, 2017 Low cost carrier flydubai has announced plans to begin flights to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and increase its flight frequency to Zanzibar due to increasing demand. The relaunched service will mark flydubai’s third location in Tanzania after beginning operations in 2014. The city will be served with six flights a week, three of which will be via the capital Dar es Salaam. Meanwhile, flights to Zanzibar will be upped from three to eight per week. “With the addition of the service to Kilimanjaro and more direct flights to Zanzibar, flydubai will operate 14 flights a week, marking a 133 per cent increase in capacity to the market compared to the previous year,” said flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith. “This is a healthy indication of the rising popularity of Tanzania as a preferred tourist destination and we are happy to be connecting the market to Dubai.” Both services will begin on October 29. The carrier saw a 3.5 per cent increase in passengers travelling between the UAE and Africa in 2016. Its route network on the continent will stand at 12 destinations following the expansion. In February, flydubai announced plans to launch flights to Batumi in Georgia, Qabala in Azerbaijan and Tivat in Montenegro.
