Flydubai offers passengers home check-in and baggage collection

Dubai-based flydubai has launched a new service allowing passengers to check-in and have their baggage collected from their homes or offices.

The service is being offered in partnership with DUBZ and dnata.

Passengers travelling on the airline from Dubai’s Terminal 2 can check in for their flight and hand over their baggage to DUBZ staff from their home or office up to six hours ahead of departure.

A team from DUBZ will pick up the baggage up to 24 hours in advance of the flight, print boarding passes and baggage tags on the spot and deliver the bags directly to the airport.

Passengers who are travelling with only hand baggage can also avail of the service. A representative of DUBZ will collect the bag from the passenger’s home or office and hand it over before boarding.

Flydubai passengers arriving in Dubai also have the option to have their baggage collected from the luggage belt and directly delivered to their hotel, residence or office.

The new luggage check-in services cost Dhs110 each for the first and second bags or Dhs299 for the first three bags, and Dhs30 for every additional bag after that. The belt pick-up service is priced at Dhs99 for the first bag and Dhs40 for every additional bag.

The service is now available for booking through flydubai’s website on new and existing itineraries and the airline is also offering a 30 per cent discount on standard prices until June 30.

DUBZ, which was started in 2016 in Dubai, arranges for the collection of baggage from passengers’ homes or hotels before a flight, and delivery of bags to the home or hotel on arrival in Dubai. The service is available 24 hours a day.

The new home check-in service has been launched after dnata recently acquired a majority stake in DUBZ.

Along with flydubai, the service is also being offered to passengers travelling on Saudi airlines Saudia and flynas.

DUBZ and dnata said they are currently in discussions with other airlines to offer the service.

“We’re now able to extend our service beyond the airport to let travellers check in for their flights from home,” said Steve Allen, divisional senior vice president – UAE Airport Operations, dnata.

“It saves them time and provides peace of mind. With success in Dubai, we hope to roll this out as a dnata product around the world,” he added.
