Flydubai resumes flights to Tbilisi, expands network to 65 destinations

Dubai-based airline flydubai has resumed twice-weekly flights to Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, after authorities in Georgia eased restrictions for international travel from February 1.

The service commenced on January 28 and flights from Dubai International to Tbilisi International Airport will operate on Mondays and Thursdays.

Return business class fares from DXB start from Dhs5,745 and economy class tickets are priced from Dhs1,685. Return business class tickets from Tbilisi to Dubai begin from $1,082 while economy class fares start from $370.

In line with the recent announcement, nationals and residents of Bahrain and the UAE can travel to Tbilisi if they have a negative Covid-19 PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours before the departure time of the flight.

Visitors will have to take a further Covid-19 PCR test, at their own expense, on the third day after entering Georgia.

Passengers who hold a Covid-19 vaccination certificate will also be able to travel to the country.

Jeyhun Efendi, SVP, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said: “We have steadily grown our network to more than 65 destinations and are pleased to restart our operations to Tbilisi. We will continue to launch flights to more destinations as restrictions ease in countries within our geographic reach.”

Last week, flydubai announced the launch of flights to Salzburg and Malta, in addition to the resumption of flights to Catania and Naples, which will commence from May.

The airline has also modified its travel experience to minimise crew and passenger contact. It recently introduced an extended multi-risk travel insurance that includes Covid-19 cover. In the UAE, flydubai has also partnered with Aster DM Healthcare and NMC Healthcare to offer passengers PCR testing at special rates.
