GCC Covid-19 update: Saudi reports 1,325 new cases; Kuwait death toll rises

The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia reported 1,325 new Covid-19 cases on April 29, its highest ever daily rise in infections.

The city of Makkah registered 356 cases, followed by Madinah (225), Jeddah (224) and Riyadh (203).

Since the outbreak, as many as 21,402 people have tested positive for the virus in the kingdom, of whom 2,953 have recovered.

The ministry also confirmed five additional deaths, spiking the Covid-19 death toll to 157.

Kuwait
The Ministry of Health in Kuwait reported 300 new infections in the last 24 hours, spiking the total to 3,740, Kuwait News Agency reported on April 29.

It also confirmed the death of a 57-year-old Filipino who was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. The Covid-19 related death toll now stands at 24.

The ministry also reported that 66 patients were in intensive care, of whom 28 remained in a critical state.

Oman
The sultanate recorded 143 new Covid-19 cases, Oman News Agency reported.

Of the newly diagnosed cases, 42 were Omanis while 101 were expatriates. The total number of Covid-19 infection in Oman now tallies 2,274.

As many as 10 people have succumbed to the virus across the country.

Bahrain
As of April 29, Bahrain has 1,491 active Covid-19 cases, of whom two remain in a critical condition.

Qatar
The Ministry of Public Health announced the registration of 643 new Covid-19 infections and the recovery of 109 cases in the last 24 hours.

As many as 12,564 people have tested positive for the virus in the country.
